11 compulsory courses
These are the mandatory ACSA courses every NCSO candidate must complete ([ACSA](https://www.youracsa.ca/ncso-hsa/national-construction-safety-officer-ncso/)).
2 elective courses
Choose 2 electives from the ACSA elective list (e.g. Fall Protection End-User, Confined Space Entry/Monitor, Hazard Management, Ground Disturbance 201, Alberta Temporary Traffic Control, or others). Check them off as you complete them.
Construction field experience
You need 3 years (6,000 hours) of construction field experience, completed within a 10-year window, documented so ACSA can verify it ([ACSA Information Booklet](https://www.youracsa.ca/wp-content/uploads/NCSO-Information-Booklet-Feb-2025.pdf)).
COR auditor qualification
The Certificate of Recognition (COR) auditor qualification is earned through the ACSA Auditor Training Program (course c3 above). It qualifies you to conduct internal COR audits.
Exam booking and study prep
The NCSO exam is closed book, up to 2 hours, with a 75% pass mark. An initial exam fee and a rewrite fee apply.
