ACSA controls the NCSO exam schedule in Alberta. You complete the exam application form and email it to ACSA, the exam is written online, the fee is $65 for the initial attempt and $80 for a rewrite, and you get up to 2 hours. Failing means a 3-month deferral, then 6 months, then 12 months.

How to book the NCSO exam
- Confirm your eligibility. You need 3 years (6,000 hours) of construction field experience within the last 10 years and all 11 compulsory courses plus 2 electives complete.
- Complete the exam application form. The form is part of the NCSO Information Booklet published by ACSA.
- Email the form to ACSA. ACSA processes the application and assigns you an exam date.
- Pay the exam fee. $65 CAD for your first attempt.
- Write the exam online. You have up to 2 hours and need 75% to pass.

What happens if you fail
ACSA applies an escalating deferral after each failed attempt. The deferral is the waiting period before you can rewrite, and it lengthens with repeated failures:
